Jessica Amaya-Zuniga

As a community organization, we continually strive to identify opportunities to further enrich the lives of our student athletes and to provide resources to empower members of our community to continue to flourish. That's why we couldn’t be more excited to announce that we’ve hired one of our Open Goal Project alumni, Jessica Amaya-Zuniga, to join our team as our very first Program Coordinator, where she’ll assist in all aspects of programming, with an emphasis on developing and managing our girls-specific programs. Jessica is entering her sophomore year on a full scholarship at Georgetown University; the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, Jessica is the first member of her family to attend college or university and is studying Global Health and Justice & Peace Studies.

An exemplary young woman on and off the field, Jessica has been selected to participate in national programs like DC United’s Major League Soccer Special Olympics team, dedicated to spreading awareness about inclusion, Colin Kaepernick's Know Your Rights camp, dedicated to empowering and advancing the next generation of leaders in minority communities, and A Bigger Picture, a women of color empowerment program. Jessica’s incredible work ethic, intelligence, and savvy beyond her years will act as an amazing example for all of our Open Goal Project participants. As we continue to develop our girls specific program, the impact Jessica will make on the young women we serve, who dream of following in her footsteps, cannot be measured.
