Popsie Lewis
Popsie Lewis, our DC community captain, has been involved with soccer for his entire life. After playing soccer at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, Lewis proceeded to play collegiately for Shenandoah University. While at Shenandoah University, Lewis led the Hornets in goals scored during the 1998 season, tallying nine goals and one assist that year. Lewis later turned his playing career into a coaching career, acting as a coach and mentor to hundreds of DC Public School soccer players over the past decade. Working under the umbrella of non-profit DC SCORES, Lewis has coached several boys and girls public school soccer teams, leading at-risk young soccer players around the city. Lewis has been integral to the growth and success of Open Goal Project, working as a coach and mentor to players and programming lead for the organization and the young men and women the organization serves.
